That wonderful time of year is upon us once more…Christmas. A time for family get-togethers, presents, decorations, food, and cosy nights in. We all love to get into the Christmas spirit and it is in full swing now with only a few weeks until the big day.
The lead up to Christmas involves lots of shopping and we have now seen all the festive adverts the retailers have to offer to entice us into their stores and warm our hearts.
There has been a mixture of sentimental and comedy ads this year. Here we go through our top five stand out ads of the year.
This is a lovely, heart-warming advert featuring Paddington Bear. It shows Paddington unwittingly coming across a thief stealing Christmas presents, who he thinks is Santa. He then takes ‘Santa’ around town to deliver the presents and the thief realises the error of his ways. This advert is full of Christmas spirit.
We loved Kevin the Carrot in last year’s ad by Aldi, and he is back again this year. Kevin hops aboard a Christmas train and spots Katie the carrot across a festive table. He then saves her from a flying pea and wins her affection. This advert is great as it is full of fun and Christmas cheer. We hope Kevin and Katie are back again next year!
The advert is an audience favourite and a real tearjerker. Supporting act reveals the story of a daughter passionate about dance and her busy working father. The daughter takes part in a talent show and freezes without her father there to support her. However, she then sees him in the crowd and they do the dance together. The end caption reads ‘Christmas Together’. It is a real joy to watch and a moving sentiment.
John Lewis is back again with their famous Christmas adverts. This year the ad features a boy called Joe who befriends Moz the Monster who lives under his bed. The advert puts a smile on our faces and is very uplifting. However, it isn’t the usual tearjerker that John Lewis creates.
The Christmas elves are hard at work in this advert making sure all the children receive their gifts. It features a race against time for one elf to try and get a mislaid present onto the ‘Rudolph 4’ before it sets off on its journey to deliver the presents. This is another enjoyable, fun advert that puts us in the Christmas mood.
We hope you have enjoyed the adverts and we wish you a very Happy Christmas!
