Summer is officially upon us and its about time! Long gone are the cold dark winter nights, and here come the sun-filled long days (we hope so anyway!).

The start of summer is the perfect time to make some changes and begin a healthy lifestyle. Here are some tips to improve your overall well-being this summer:

Try a Food Box Service


We all know it can be tiresome arriving back from work and trying to figure out what to make for dinner. And it is easy to opt for takeaways and unhealthy foods when we are not sure what to cook.

This is where a food subscription service comes in. Companies such as ‘HelloFresh’ and ‘Gousto’ will send you a food box each week with recipe cards and the related ingredients. This takes the hassle of food shopping and meal planning away. In addition, the meals are all well balanced and healthy.

Tip: many companies have introductory offers so keep a lookout.

Download a Meditation App


Meditation allows you to relax, release your thoughts and focus on the moment. If you are feeling stressed or anxious these apps can be perfect for creating calmness and reducing your stress.

You can even do meditation exercises on the train to or from work.

Drink Plenty Water


As the temperature increases, our bodies require more water to stay hydrated. Make sure you are drinking enough water each day. A lack of water can cause fatigue, headaches, dizziness, and muscle pain. Feed your body people!

Buy a Planner and Set Goals


Making plans for each day and setting goals can help keep your mind clear and resolve worries. Set yourself realistic goals for each day, these can be personal or work related, and tick them off when you have achieved them.

Acknowledging achieved goals is a great thing to do as it makes you feel good about yourself. We often focus on the things we haven’t done, rather than everything we have achieved.

Get Some Fresh Air Each Day


Whilst the sun is shining why not make a plan to get some fresh air each day. This could be a quick stroll on your lunch hour or an evening bike ride. This is good for our health and can be a good way to get out of the office or home and take some time for yourself.

Don’t Forget the Sun Cream!


Living in the UK, it is very easy to forget to apply sun cream, but when the sun does finally shine it really is important to apply it. The weather may not be as hot as other countries, but the suns rays are still beaming down meaning you can still burn.

If the sun is out, then pop your sun cream on. You’re then set for the day. Better than getting a red face we say!
